The National Testing Agency (NTA) today declared the result of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate), NEET (UG) 2026. The result has been declared in time so that the medical-admission and counselling calendar for candidates stays on track.

A total of close to 20 lakh candidates appeared for NEET (UG) 2026 at 5,440 centres in 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. 11.21 lakh candidates have qualified for admission to undergraduate medical, dental, AYUSH and allied programmes.

Scorecards of all candidates are available on the official website, neet.nta.nic.in. The full list of Top Rankers, State Toppers, category-wise toppers (SC, ST, OBC-NCL, Gen-EWS, PwBD and PwD), category-wise cut-off marks and language-wise participation is also being published on the NTA website.

Overview of the Candidates who appeared in NEET UG Exam on 21st June 2026 Close to 20 lakh candidates appeared and 11.21 lakh qualified. Candidates appeared from every State and Union Territory of the country, in 13 languages. More than 58 per cent of the qualified candidates are women. The majority of the top-performing candidates are between 17 and 19 years of age. Profile of the Top Rankers138 candidates scored above 690 marks out of 720. Of these:

• Over 93 per cent appeared for NEET (UG) for the first time.

• 99 per cent are between 17 and 19 years of age.

Geographical Distribution

Qualified candidates have emerged from every one of the 36 States and Union Territories, ranging from over 1.7 lakh in Uttar Pradesh to 43 in Lakshadweep. State Toppers include Jigmet Yangchan Lamo (Ladakh, 530 marks), Dhruv Tripathi (Andaman and Nicobar Islands, 606 marks) and Fahmida Anees (Lakshadweep, 573 marks), and cover every North-Eastern State. 17 State Toppers scored 700 or above; 26 scored above 690.

The 138 top rankers come from 66 cities across the country. The Top 17 rankers who scored more than 705 marks span eight States, namely Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

Score Distribution and Highest Scorers

• 19 candidates scored above 700 out of 720.

• 1,492 candidates scored 650 and above.

• 10,160 candidates scored 600 and above.

• 90,780 candidates scored 500 and above.

The highest score of 715 out of 720 was obtained jointly by Aryan Gupta (Punjab) and Panshul Bansal (Haryana).

Category-wise Qualified Candidates

Registered, appeared and qualified figures are being published in full for General, Gen-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwBD, PwD and Third Gender candidates. Separate topper lists for each category are provided in the accompanying toppers document.

Category-wise qualified candidates:

• General: 2.91 lakh

• OBC-NCL: 5.12 lakh

• SC: 1.59 lakh

• ST: 63,716

• Gen-EWS: 95,026

• PwBD: 3,666 • PwD: 303

Category-wise cut-off marks and percentiles are being published simultaneously.

Participation and Qualification of Women Candidates

More than 58 per cent of all qualified candidates are women. Women also qualified at a higher rate than men: 56.8 per cent of women who appeared qualified, as against 55.1 per cent of men.

Languages of the Examination

NEET (UG) 2026 was conducted in 13 languages: Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu and English.

Process and Timeline of Result Declaration

The result was declared within time through re-engineering of the process, with stages designed to run in parallel rather than in sequence, and with the de-linking of OMR sheet challenge from answer key release. Each stage was completed in full and made available for candidate view:

• Provisional answer key published on 25 June 2026; challenge window open from 25 to 28 June 2026.

• Scanned OMR answer sheets and recorded responses displayed to candidates from 13 to 15 July 2026.

• Final answer key published on 16 July 2026; result declared on 16 July 2026.

Statutory Framework

NTA conducts NEET (UG) under Section 14 of the NMC Act, 2019 and Section 14 of the NCISM Act, 2020, and for BHMS under the NCH, on the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and with the approval of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Education.

NTA’s mandate is to conduct the examination, declare the result on eligibility criteria provided by NMC, and issue the All-India Rank. Merit lists, category lists, domicile determination and counselling are the remit of the admitting/State authorities. NTA has no role in these.

NEET (UG) result data is also used for admission to B.Sc. (H) Nursing and to BVSc and AH under the 15% VCI quota. AACCC is the counselling authority for the All-India Quota in BAMS/BUMS/BSMS and BHMS. Counselling and Candidate Advisory Counselling for the All-India Quota in MBBS/BDS is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). State quotas are conducted by respective State authorities. Candidates should rely only on official websites: neet.nta.nic.in, mcc.nic.in and State counselling portals.

In the reference 1 cited, the Government introduced the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) with effect from 01.09.2004, applicable to all State Government employees recruited on or after 01.09.2004. The scheme was adopted in line with the National Pension System (NPS) model of the Government of India and made applicable to all State Government employees recruited on or after 01.09.2004.

2. In the references 2nd cited, the Government of India, Department of Pension and Pensioner's Welfare, provided a one-time option for coverage under the Old Pension Scheme to eligible Central Government employees, whose appointments were delayed due to administrative reasons, provided the recruitment results were declared before 01.01.2004. Subsequently, in the reference 3d cited, the benefit was further extended by allowing a one-time option to all Central Government employees, who were appointed against posts/vacancies advertised or notified prior to the introduction of the National Pension System, but joined service thereafter and consequently came under the NPS.

3. In the references 4th and 5th cited, the Chief Minister's Office requested that necessary action be taken on the representations submitted by the employee associations and people's representatives seeking extension of one-time option to the CPS employees. Representations have been received from various employee associations and legislators seeking this benefit to the employees who were recruited pursuant to notifications/ advertisements issued prior to 01.09.2004 but joined service on or after 01.09.2004 and were brought under the Contributory Pension Scheme.

4. After careful examination of the matter, the Government herebyorders as below:

I. Adoption of the policy of Government of India published vide OMs i.e.,. (i) Office Memorandum No.57/04/2019-P&PW(B), Dt: 17.02.2020 & (ii) Office Memorandum No.57/05/2021- P&PW(B), dated 03.03.2023, duly providing a onetime option to all such eligible employees currently covered under Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), for conversion from Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) to Old Pension Scheme (OPS), who joined service on or after 01.09.2004, but the related recruitment notification /advertisement was published before 01.09.2004.

II. Extension of this one-time option for all categories of employees who are covered under the provisions of G.O.Ms.No.653, dated: 22.09.2004.

5. For the implementation of the orders in para 4 above, the conditions to be followed are as below:

i. The recruitment process by the respective recruiting authority for the vacancy/post, by issue of notification/advertisement inviting applications for the vacancy/post, should have been issued prior to 01.09.2004. The date of notification/advertisement issued should be submitted as criteria for meeting this condition.

ii. The appointment of the employee into such vacancy/post against the notification/advertisement, should have been on or after 1.9.2004. The employee as of date of issue of these orders should be under CPS. The appointment orders and proceedings related to joining of the employee should be submitted.

iii. The employee shall exercise the option in a prescribed form/mode within a period of three (03) months from the date of issue of these orders, or within such further period as may be notified by the Government;

iv. The option once exercised shall be final and irrevocable.

v. Employees who do not exercise the option as per these orders shall continue to be governed by the Contributory Pension Scheme.

6. The benefit sanctioned under this order is a one-time measure for employees meeting prescribed criteria and shall not be treated as a precedent for consideration of any future claims or categories of employees not specifically covered herein.

7. The detailed implementation and operational guidelines for exercising option and managing CPS corpus of such employees who opt for OPS will be issued separately by Finance department and Directorate of Treasuries and Accounts.

8. All the Spl.Chief Secretaries/Principal Secretaries/Secretaries are requested to convey these orders to all the departments/institutions covered under the reference 1* cited, for taking necessary action.

The AP EAPCET-2026 results are set to be released. Officials from JNTUK, the organizing body for the CET, announced that Minister Lokesh would declare the results after 11:00 AM. A total of 3.29 lakh candidates appeared for the CET; specifically, 2.58 lakh took the exam in the MPC stream, and 70,929 in the BiPC stream. The preliminary answer key and response sheets were released on May 25. It is reported that, after reviewing objections, a decision has been made to award marks for two questions.

The provisional selection list for admissions into the Six-Year Integrated B.Tech Programme at RGUKT-AP campuses—Nuzvid, R.K. Valley, Ongole, and Srikakulam—for AY 2026–27.

Out of 44,104 applications received, 4,040 students have been provisionally selected for admission.

To note that 96.7% of the selected candidates are from Government schools, reaffirming RGUKT’s commitment to nurturing rural talent and expanding access to quality higher education.
